Fate of a TIA Can

A view of the east side of Washington Street looking west. The debris from the demolished house is at the left edge and the DL&W embankment runs across the upper middle of the photo. The now demolished garage also shown in the other photo is at the right edge of this photo.

The TIA distributed trash cans in the hope that careless citizens could be persuaded to deposit candy wrappers and other trash in them. Alas, this one seems to have also received a lighted cigarette. Between the trees along the curb can be seen two carriage blocks and a hitching post; reminders of the past glories of this once residential street. The corner was later the site of the "Plaza Building," until recently the home of the Seven Hills Restaurant.
